Meeting of the Foreign Minister of Armenia with the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary
On May 6, within the framework of the official visit to Hungary, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with István Jakab, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary.
The interlocutors discussed the prospects for the development of the bilateral agenda. The role and expectations from the inter-parliamentary engagements and the importance of implementing initiatives through friendship groups operating in both parliaments were emphasized.
Minister Mirzoyan highlighted that on the path initiated for the restoration of diplomatic relations and as a result of recent discussions, it is noticeable that both sides have a determination to give a significant impetus to bilateral ties, which are based on historical and civilizational commonalities.
Both sides emphasized the existing interest in discovering new directions through high-level mutual visits, joint initiatives, and discussed future plans.
Special attention was paid to issues of deepening people-to-people contacts in the field of culture, science and education, the launch of Yerevan-Budapest direct flights, as well as the implementation of the “Stipendium Hungaricum” scholarship program. The care of the Hungarian people and the Hungarian Government towards the Armenian community, which is officially recognized as a national minority in Hungary, was also mentioned as evidence of the strong ties between the two peoples.
Ararat Mirzoyan and István Jakab also exchanged views on regional security issues. Minister Mirzoyan presented the vision of Armenia in achieving stable peace in the South Caucasus, the existing challenges and efforts to overcome them.

Christmas Eve
On January 5, a Christmas Eve event took place at the Armenian Cultural Center. The evening was enriched with music, piano play, and recitations. Among those who took the stage were Nelson Sahakyan, Olga Kovach, Hayk Victoria, Ara Ghazaryan, Irena Martirosyan, and Argine Margaryan. The event also served as an opportunity to bring together the Armenian community of Hungary on this significant day and once again show the Armenian spirit and culture. The event concluded in a warm atmosphere around a hospitality table.

Meeting of French Ambassador Jonathan Lacôte with Armenian Community Spokesperson Nikoghos Akopyan
At the invitation of Nikogos Akopyan, the spokesperson for the Armenian community in Hungary, French Ambassador Jonathan Lacôte, accredited to Hungary, was hosted at the spokesperson’s office. During the meeting, Akopyan introduced the ambassador to the life of the Armenian community in Hungary, discussed issues and challenges the community faces, and outlined his future plans as the community’s spokesperson.
During the meeting he proposed a joint effort to erect a monument in one of Budapest’s central districts to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Charles Aznavour, the world-renowned chansonnier, songwriter, and actor, who is a source of pride for both France and Armenia. The ambassador warmly welcomed the idea and pledged his support for this initiative.
Before departing, the French ambassador expressed his gratitude for the invitation and his desire to make such meetings a regular occurrence.

New Year Celebration for Children
On December 7, New Year celebration for children took place at the Armenian Cultural Center in Budapest. The event included a play for children performed by the “Urartu” theater group. The children watched the play with great enthusiasm and eagerly waited the arrival of Santa Claus. The event concluded with hospitality.
